This listing is for the cool old Plomb roll-a-round tool cabinet as shown. Plomb was the original name of PROTO, they were forced to change their name by court order around 1948. It is approximately 34" tall including it's original steel wheeled casters that have an overall height of appx 5" (4" wheels), appx 18" deep and 28 wide. All the casters are swivels, the two rear ones have wheel locks.
They are the original stem style, push in casters with a spring ring on the stem to retain them, but they are still easy to remove if desired with a bit of a pull. The original paint is pretty good, but it does have some white stuff on it, especially the front of the top drawer and spread about here and there, along with the normal scratches, etc. You would expect on a box this old. The top, where a top chest would normally reside has decent paint, but as you can imagine, it does have some wear also, I have a pretty good pic of it, so see it for sure. All 3 drawers open and close smoothly and are in good structural condition. The bottom cover works fine also.
It has NO locks or keys, those can be sourced elsewhere for a minimal amount. Both sides, towards the bottom have factory louvers, not sure what they are for, but they are also in good shape. I have pictured the worst dent I could find, there are many more smaller dings and dents, especially on the rounded corners as it is at least 70+ years old and has been used. The inside of the bottom space behind the fold-down cover is in surprising nice condition, no real rust anywhere that I can see.
Oh, maybe a bit of surface rust where some of the original paint has been scratched, but still pretty nice. The original bar that keeps drawers 2 & 3 closed once the two locks are turned is included and works fine, but without locks to hold the drawers, it is not a deterrent. It stores easily in the LH front corner of the top.Speaking of the top, it has a serial number, also pictured, pretty cool. "PLOMB TOOLS" is embossed on the bottom drawer and on both sides. Oh, and the top two drawers are not solid bottomed, but have been punched thru at the factory, so they will not retain liquids, I guess?? The real color is best shown in the second picture as the camera didn't flash on that one, some of the others, the camera flashed and it's not quite that bright red for sure. Pics 6-11 also are actual color, no flash.
